NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
SHASTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, at their regularly scheduled meeting on TUESDAY, JULY 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, located at 1450 Court Street, Suite 263, Redding, California, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors, acting on behalf of County Service Areas No. 6-Jones Valley, No. 8-Palo Cedro, No. 17-Cottonwood, and No. 23-Crag View, will conduct a Public Hearing on the Annual Report of Uncollectible Debts for Fiscal Year 2026-27.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive testimony, either oral or written, on the Annual Report of Uncollectible Debts for Fiscal Year 2026-27. The Report of Uncollectible Debts includes uncollectible debts incurred in County Service Areas for unpaid water and sewer service charges that have exhausted all reasonable collection procedures and are no longer cost-effective to pursue. Pursuant to Government Code sections 25257 and 25258, any county entity charged by law with the collection of any debt due and payable to the county or district for any reason may apply to the Board of Supervisors for a discharge of accountability for the collection thereof if the amount is too small to justify the cost of collection, the likelihood of collection does not warrant the expense involved, or the amount thereof has been otherwise lawfully compromised or adjusted.
The Annual Report of Uncollectible Debts and supporting data may be reviewed at the Shasta County Department of Public Works, located at 1855 Placer Street, Redding, California. To submit comments electronically, please forward them to shastacountybos@shastacounty.gov. To submit comments via U.S. Mail, please forward them to the Clerk of the Board to arrive no later than 5:00 p.m. one day prior to the meeting at the following address: Shasta County Clerk of the Board, 1450 Court Street, Suite 308B, Redding, CA 96001.
PLEASE NOTE that any challenges of the proposed action in court may be limited to addressing only those issues raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence submitted to the Clerk of the Board at, or prior to, the public hearing.
