NOTICE OF RULE DEVELOPMENT BY
THE SCHOOL BOARD OF OKALOOSA COUNTY, FLORIDA
The School Board of Okaloosa County, Florida, pursuant to the provisions of §120.54, Florida Statutes, hereby gives notice that it is developing a new School Board policy which will amend the current policy 05-06, the title of which is: Cost for Reproduction of Student Records. The proposed amendments under the new policy clarify the standard for billing fees for duplication costs and special service charges, as authorized by §119.07 (4)(d) and School Board Policy 01-25(F), for certain student records requests that require extensive use of information technology resources, extensive clerical or supervisory assistance, redaction and review for exempt or confidential information for records outside of the standard student cumulative file or Exceptional Student Education (ESE) file. The purpose and effect of the proposed amendments to the policy is to provide clarity in assessing duplication costs and special service charges in certain student records requests as allowed by Florida law.
The specific legal authority for the proposed policy is §1001.41, Florida Statutes. Any interested person may obtain a preliminary draft of the proposed policy from Mari McGowan, 202A Highway 85 North, Niceville, Florida, 32578, telephone number (850) 833-5895, at no cost.
