Take notice that a pleading seeking relief against each of you has been filed in the District Court of Cumberland County, Juvenile Division. That this pleading alleges that the juvenile is dependent.
You have the right to be represented by a lawyer at all stages of the proceeding. If you want a lawyer and cannot afford to hire one, the Court will appoint a lawyer to represent you; that you may hire a lawyer of your choice at any time, or you may waive the right to a lawyer and represent yourself. To request a Court appointed lawyer, you may contact the Clerk of Superior Court at (910) 475-3000.
If the Court determines the allegations in the Petition to be true, the Court will conduct a dispositional hearing to consider the needs of the juvenile and enter an order designed to meet those needs.
Upon proper notice and hearing and a finding based on the criteria set out in G.S. 7B-1111, these proceedings may end with your parental rights being terminated.
You are required to make defense to such pleading no later than forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice, and upon your failure to do so, the Petitioner seeking service against you will apply to the Court for the relief sought.
