TO: JANE DOE and JOHN DOE, putative parents of a male juvenile born on 2/18/2026 at 2:19 pm at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina
Take notice that the infant was surrendered by a person claiming to be the infant's mother or father who did not express an intent to return for the infant, and that the infant was surrendered pursuant to G.S. 7B-521 to hospital staff at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center located at 1604 Owen Dr., Fayetteville, NC 28304 on 2/18/2026.
Take notice that the juvenile is black with black hair and brown eye.
Take notice the infant is now in the legal and physical custody of the Cumberland County Department of Social Services located at 1225 Ramsey St., Fayetteville NC 28301.
Take notice that a Petition seeking to terminate your parental rights has been filed in the Juvenile Section, District Court of Cumberland County, North Carolina. The purpose of this action is to terminate any parental rights you may have to the juvenile so that adoption proceedings can occur.
Take notice that the Court will conduct a pre-trial hearing on 7/10/26 pursuant to G.S. § 7B-1108.1 to determine whether one or more grounds alleged in the petition exist. If the Court finds that one or more grounds exist, the Court may proceed at that hearing or a later hearing to determine whether parental rights should be terminated. You may attend this hearing.
You may file an answer to the Petition within thirty (30) days after 5/22/26 and that failure to answer the Petition within the time prescribed may result in your parental rights being terminated. A copy of the answer must also be served on the Petitioner and his/her attorney.
Take notice that a failure to answer the petition within the time prescribed, and if the court determines the ground for termination has been proved and that termination of parental rights is in the best interests of the juvenile, your parental rights to the juvenile will be terminated.
If you are indigent, you are entitled to appointed counsel and may contact the Cumberland County Clerk of Superior Court, Juvenile Division, at (910)475-3000 immediately to request the same.
