NOTICE Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:49-2(a) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Township Council of the Township of Bridgewater in the County of Somerset at a meeting held on September 4, 2025, introduced and passed on first reading an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 4 (ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION), ARTICLE XIV (DEPARTMENT OF POLICE), SECTION 4-83 (PROMOTIONS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRIDGEWATER TO AMEND THE POLICE PROMOTION ORDINANCE The purpose of this Ordinance is to amend Chapter 4, section 4-83 of the Bridgewater Township code, in order to clarify the promotion process for various ranks within the Bridgewater Township Police Department. It updates the existing code to define clearer criteria and procedures for promotions to Chief of Police, Captain, Lieutenant, and Sergeant. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that said ordinance will be further considered for final passage on September 18, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. or soon thereafter at a meeting of the Township Council to be held at 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. All persons interested shall be given an opportunity at that time to be heard concerning said ordinance. Any member of the general public may obtain, without cost, a copy of the entire ordinance from the Municipal Clerk at the Bridgewater Township Municipal Building, 100 Commons Way, during normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday) at any time up to and including the time when the Township Council shall further consider this ordinance for final passage.
