NOTICE
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:49-2(a) NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Township Council of the Township of Bridgewater in the County of Somerset at a meeting held on December 3, 2025, introduced and passed on first reading an ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 26 (PERSONNEL POLICIES), ARTICLE IV (COMPENSATION AND PAY PERIODS) OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BRIDGEWATER TO CLARIFY COMPENSATION STANDARDS
The purpose of this ordinance is to clarify the Township's compensation standards, primarily by adjusting the overtime threshold for most nonexempt employees from 35 hours to 40 hours worked in a week before they are eligible for overtime compensation at 1.5 times their regular rate. Additionally, the ordinance updates and clarifies existing policies regarding employee pay periods, the computation of daily and hourly rates, and establishes that salary increments are to be based on merit rather than being automatically granted, while maintaining current rules for exempt employees who are not eligible for overtime.
TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that said ordinance will be further considered for final passage on December 17, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. or soon thereafter at a meeting of the Township Council to be held at 100 Commons Way, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. All persons interested shall be given an opportunity at that time to be heard concerning said ordinance.
Any member of the general public may obtain, without cost, a copy of the entire ordinance from the Municipal Clerk at the Bridgewater Township Municipal Building, 100 Commons Way, during normal business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday) at any time up to and including the time when the Township Council shall further consider this ordinance for final passage.
