Nevada Community School District Board of Directors Minutes of Regular Meeting Monday, December 15, 2025 Gates Memorial Hall at 825 15th St Nevada PRESENT: BOARD MEMBERS: Marty Chitty, Tom Maier, Leanne Harter, Tori Carsrud, Emily Schaack STAFF: Dr Steve Gray, Tammy Ellis, Dave Kroese 1. Call to Order at 6:00 p.m. 2. Approval of Agenda - Motion to approve the agenda with additions by Harter, second by Carsrud, Motion Carried 5-0 3. Public Comment – None 4. Information 4.1 Track Resurfacing Bids – No bids were presented at tonight's board meeting; information only was discussed. Director of Building & Grounds, Dave Kroese shared, the track resurfacing work will start next summer. Kroese also mentioned that tracks are usually supposed to last for seven years, Dr Gray pointed out that it's been about 10 years since the track was resurfaced on the top. Carsrud asked about colors and branding when resurfacing the track. Kroese noted that the track looks nice with colors but it doesn't wear as well. Dr Gray also mentioned that having a colored track was looked at previously and the cost of purple surfacing was double the cost. 5. Action Agenda 5.1 Repairs – High School Library Roof – Motion by Carsrud second by Schaack to approve the bid from Central States Roofing for the high school library roof repair for $74,900 with a performance bond for $580 Motion Carried 5-0 5.2 Repairs – Goal Posts & Discus Poles Motion by Maier, second by Schaack to approve repairs to the goal posts and discus poles, Motion carried 5-0 5.3 Addition – Shot & Discus Practice Area Motion by Carsrud, second by Maier to approve shot and discus materials to allow for two more throwing spaces, Motion carried 5-0. 5.4 Policy Addition: 711.9 – Local Bus Driver Training – 2nd/Final Reading Motion by Carsrud, second by Harter to approve Policy 711.9. Motion carried 5-0 5.5 HS Course Guide Edits 2026-2027 – Motion by Maier, second by Carsrud to adopt changes from the original course guide presented by Dr Einsweiler a couple weeks ago. Motion carried 5-0 6. Consent Agenda Motion by Carsrud, second Harter by to approve the consent agenda as presented with additions. Dr Gray let the board know that once the quarantine for the performance ratings is done, he will pass along the information. 7.2 The next regular board meeting is Monday, January 5, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. 8.
