Newtown- Fire and EMS Tax Millage Ordinance
NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at the regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Newtown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to be held on Wednesday December 10, 2025 at the Newtown Township Building, 100 Municipal Drive, Newtown, PA 18940, at 7:00 PM, the Board of Supervisors will consider, and if appropriate, enact, an ordinance, the title and a summary of which are as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NEWTOWN, BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, LEVYING 7 MILLS OF FIRE TAX AND 2 MILLS OF EMERGENCY SERVICES TAX UPON ALL REAL PROPERTY IN NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026; REPEALING ALL INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF; PROVDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
The proposed ordinance is being considered pursuant to Pennsylvania Act 54 of 2024 which gave municipalities the ability to levy up to 10 mills of real estate tax for fire protection purposes and up to 5 mills of real estate tax for emergency services purposes. The ordinance proposes to levy 7 mills of real estate tax for fire protection purposes for 2026 and 2 mills of real estate tax for emergency services purposes for 2026.
