Notice of Data Incident

Notice of Data Incident Des Moines, IA – The Easter Seal Society of Iowa, Inc. ("ESSI") announces a data incident that may have affected a limited number of individuals' information. On April 17, 2026, ESSI observed unusual activity in its network and immediately began an investigation into the nature and scope of the event with the assistance of third-party specialists. The investigation determined that certain data on ESSI's network was accessed without authorization. Therefore, ESSI is conducting a comprehensive review of the potentially impacted data to determine the type of information contained therein and to whom the information relates. While the review is ongoing, the type of information potentially impacted, which will vary by individual, may include name and one or more of the following: address, email address, phone number, date of birth, Social Security number, financial account information, treatment/diagnosis information, prescription/medication information, dates of service, provider name, provider location, medical record number, patient account number, Medicare/Medicaid ID number, health insurance information, and/or medical billing/claims information. In response to this incident, ESSI is working with third-party specialists to investigate and implement measures to further protect information and reduce the risk of a similar incident occurring in the future.
