Notice of Decision for Site Assignment
In accordance with 310 CMR 16.20(13), notice is hereby given that the New Bedford Board of Health has issued its decision on September 19, 2025, regarding the application of South Coast Renewables, LLC for site assignment of a proposed solid waste transfer and recycling facility to be located at 100 Duchaine Boulevard, New Bedford, MA.
The Application sought approval to construct a 65,317 square foot waste handling building attached to the existing 92,220 square foot glass processing building, for a combined operation that would accept up to 1,500 tons per day of municipal solid waste and construction and demolition waste, to be received by truck, managed within the enclosed building, and transferred by rail or trailer for disposal and/or recycling.
After conducting public hearings and reviewing the evidence admitted into the Administrative Record, the Board voted, upon motion duly made and seconded, by a vote of two in favor and one against, to deny site assignment for the proposed facility.
Any person aggrieved by the decision of the Board of Health may, within 30 days of publication of this Notice of Decision, appeal under the provisions of M.G.L. c. 30A, § 14.
The full written Decision of the Board has been filed with the New Bedford City Clerk, incorporated into the Administrative Record, and is available for public inspection and copying at: New Bedford Health Department, 1213 Purchase Street, New Bedford, MA 02740
