Notice of Proposed Exchange of Property
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
Bureau of Forestry
and
Porters Lake Hunting and Fishing Club
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), acting through the Bureau of Forestry, and Porters Lake Hunting and Fishing Club are proposing to negotiate an exchange of property interests in Porter Township, Pike County, Pennsylvania.
The proposed exchange consists of 4.19 acres from Porters Lake Hunting and Fishing Club to DCNR and 3.2 acres from DCNR to Porters Lake Hunting and Fishing Club in Porter Township, Pike County. The acreage balance is strongly in favor of the Commonwealth and therefore makes this proposed transaction justified as equal or greater value for the Commonwealth. The Porters Lake Hunting and Fishing Club had a complete survey of their property completed in 2024 and the Delaware State Forest borders about three-fourths of their property. The proposed exchange will further consolidate public ownership of this forested landscape and is consistent with the Bureau of Forestry's land acquisition goals.
As is the policy of DCNR, the public is hereby notified of this proposed exchange. A 30-day period for public inquiry and/or comment will be in effect commencing May 23, 2026, and ending June 22, 2026. Oral or written comments or questions concerning this proposed exchange may be addressed to: Ms. Ashley Shultz, Planning Section, Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, P.O. Box 8552, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8552; email: aeshultz@pa.gov; telephone: 717-787-4138. All oral and/or written comments will become part of the official document used in the final decision process. Written documents are also available regarding the proposed land exchange, upon request.
If, in the duration of the 30-day comment period, a significant amount of public concern develops, the DCNR Secretary may schedule a public informational meeting.
