By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor. It is the purchasing policy of Polk County to allow the Polk County Board of Supervisors the discretion of showing preference in purchasing materials, products, supplies, provisions, goods and services from Iowa-based companies and or bidders who produce goods or maintain an office in Iowa. Preference may also be given to materials, products, supplies, provisions, goods and services from Polk County-based companies and or bidders who produce goods or maintain an office in Polk County. Further, it is the policy of Polk County to actively solicit and seek out local bidders of materials, products, supplies, provisions, goods and services and to encourage said bidders to stock and supply Iowa-made products.
