PUBLIC NOTICE
CITY UTILITIES OF SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI
City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri (CU) hereby provides public notice, in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), that CU has been awarded $14,000,000 in federal funding through the Community Grants Program, authorized by the FY 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act (P.L. 117-328). These Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) funds will support the construction of the Stockton Booster Pump Station, a critical component of CU's long-term water supply and transmission system.
The Stockton Booster Pump Station will be constructed along the Stockton-to-Fellows Lake transmission line and will include a 1.5-million-gallon prestressed concrete water storage tank, a 25,000-gallon hydro pneumatic tank, four 1,000-horsepower booster pumps, medium-voltage electrical equipment, and a new pump station building. This project will significantly improve system resiliency, increase transmission capacity, and enhance CU's ability to deliver reliable water service to the community.
The total estimated cost of the project is $20.5 million, of which $14 million will be funded through the FY23 CDS award. The remaining $6.5 million will be funded by CU's Water Capital Improvement Program and system revenues.
A public meeting will be held on May 27 at 4:00 p.m. in the Earl Barkley Auditorium at City Utilities' Main Office, located at 301 E. Central Avenue, Springfield, MO. The meeting will provide an overview of the project, its history and planned construction activities.
