Mouth of the Maurice River, Restoring Ecologically Beneficial and Resilient Infrastructure
Take notice that an application for an authorization under Coastal General Permit 24 has been submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Land Use Regulation for the development described below:
APPLICANT: American Littoral Society
PROJECT NAME: Mouth of the Maurice River, Restoring Ecologically Beneficial and Resilient Infrastructure
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project will provide improved resilience and ecological value to the mouth of the Maurice River by protecting marsh vulnerable to erosion while creating new intertidal habitat. We will continue to implement a phased approach that addresses the highest-priority vulnerabilities at the Mouth of the Maurice resulting in measurably increased resilience through the creation of up to 4,600 feet of additional hybrid living shoreline breakwaters at Northwest Reach. The breakwaters will be supplemented with the creation of semi-permeable barriers, which will be installed along the edge of the existing marsh, and will aid in the accretion of sediment.
PROJECT STREET ADDRESS: Project located in the Maurice River south of the Matt's Landing dike (Northwest Reach).
BLOCK: 316 LOT: 44 & 45
MUNICIPALITY: Maurice River Township COUNTY: Cumberland
