PUBLIC NOTICE OF STORM WATER DISCHARGE
City of Bondurant plans to submit a Notice of Intent to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to be covered under the NPDES General Permit No. 2 "Storm Water Discharge Associated with Industrial Activity for Construction Activities". The stormwater discharge will be from site grading associated with the construction of Silo Commons. Soil disturbing activities will include the following: site clearing and grading, pavement removal, perimeter and other erosion and sediment controls, excavation, utility installation, roadway construction, foundations, and the preparation for final planting and seeding. Runoff is currently conveyed to the City storm sewer system. The proposed project will construct new storm infrastructure to serve the proposed development. The existing drainage conditions will be improved with the installation of the new storm sewer. Runoff will be directed to the new storm sewers throughout the project area. This runoff will drain off-site through two point sources and one non-point source. The majority of the site stormwater will be captured by storm structures and routed to the existing storm sewer on our site. This is ultimately routed to the previously constructed pond. The stormwater from the parking area will be captured by an intake and routed east to tie into the existing storm sewer on Filmore Ave. This storm is also routed to the previously constructed pond. A small portion of our site south of the restroom will surface flow across the trail and into the same pond as the other stormwater systems located in the city limits of Bondurant, Iowa and more specifically within the NE ¼ of the NW ¼ of Section 31, T-80-N, R-22-W, Polk County, Iowa. Storm water will be discharged from 2 point source(s) and will be discharged to the following streams: Mud Creek.
Comments may be submitted to the Storm Water Discharge Coordinator, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division, Henry A Wallace Building, 502 E 9th St, Des Moines, IA 50319-0034. The public may review the Notice of Intent from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the above address after it has been received by the department.
