PUBLIC NOTICE
Aqua Pennsylvania Wastewater Inc is pursuing PENNVEST funding for Pinecrest Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades Project.
The scope includes upgrades and expansion of the existing Pinecrest Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), including installation of new treatment equipment, construction of treatment tanks, upgrades to electrical and control systems, and installation of tertiary filtration and ultraviolet disinfection systems. The project will increase permitted hydraulic capacity and replace aging equipment to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
All proposed work will occur within the limits of the existing Pinecrest Wastewater Treatment Plant property in previously disturbed areas.
The estimated total project cost for this work is $17,400,000. If approved, the cost will be financed through a PENNVEST grant/loan, and the annual debt service will be paid by wastewater service charges to all Aqua Pennsylvania Wastewater Inc. customers served by the Pinecrest system. Rates are not expected to increase due to this project.
A request has been made to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to categorically exclude this project from the State Environmental Review Process (SERP). This request is being made because the proposed project is not expected to cause significant environmental consequences during or after the project's construction. The project is being considered for a Categorical Exclusion from environmental review requirements, which is required to apply for PENNVEST funding.
The public may submit written comments on the proposed project for a period of 30 days from the date of advertisement. The general public may review the proposed project plans at Aqua's office from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Monday through Friday Aqua Pennsylvania Wastewater Inc is pursuing PENNVEST funding for Pinecrest Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades Project.
