Public Hearing Notice for the Black Mountain Center for the Arts CDBG-DR Application
The Town of Black Mountain will hold a public hearing on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Black Mountain Town Hall, 160 Midland Avenue, Black Mountain, NC, to receive public comments on a proposed application for Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding. The Town is considering submission of a CDBG-DR Commercial District Revitalization application for a project to repair Hurricane Helene damage to the Town's Center for the Arts building. The proposed project is intended to support recovery of a damaged community asset serving residents and visitors in the downtown area. Funds will be used to repair and rehabilitate the Center for the Arts facility to address storm-related damage, stop ongoing water intrusion, and restore the building to a safe, functional condition for public arts programming. The proposed scope of work for this project includes roof and building-envelope repairs, rehabilitation of flood-damaged interior spaces, repairs to the building's elevator shaft, and replacement of the damaged elevator to restore the system to a safe condition. Proposed CDBG-DR funding request amount: $8,000,000.00. The purpose of the public hearing is to provide citizens with an opportunity to comment on the proposed project, including the nature of the project, the proposed funding request, and the Town's intent to submit a CDBG-DR application.
All interested citizens are encouraged to attend and provide input. The public comment period will begin on June 25, 2026 and end on July 9, 2026. You may request a copy of the proposed application or provide comments by contacting:
