Public Notice Announcement for USEPA UIC Permit Action
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 8 is proposing to issue an Underground Injection Control (UIC) Class VI permit under the authority of the Safe Drinking Water Act and UIC Program regulations. Carbon Storage Solutions LLC (CSS) has applied for a Class VI permit to conduct geologic sequestration of carbon dioxide into the Front Range 1-1 well for permanent storage. This well, currently permitted as a Class V well, is approximately 8875 feet deep and located at the Front Range Energy property at 31375 Great Western Drive, Windsor, CO.
The Front Range Storage Complex anticipates injecting approximately 127,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year for 12 years into the Lyons Sandstone. The injectate is a byproduct of ethanol production at the Front Range Energy facility and is piped to the well on the property.
