Public Notice: Antidegradation Alternatives Analysis for Iowa DNR Ledges State Park
Notice is hereby given that Iowa DNR Ledges State Park has completed a draft antidegradation alternatives analysis proposing improvements to its wastewater treatment system that may result in a lowering of water quality in the Des Moines River. The action being considered is a treatment upgrade of the existing wastewater treatment lagoon to add baffles, additional aeration, chlorine disinfection, and an anoxic influent tank with effluent recycle. The Des Moines River is protected for general use, recreation, aquatic life, and human health.
Anyone wishing to comment on the proposed treatment alternative must do so in writing within 30 days of the date of this notice. Copies of the draft antidegradation alternatives analysis may be requested by contacting Shive-Hattery at 1-800-798-0313 or at the above addresses. Copies of this notice, the draft antidegradation alternatives analysis and supporting information are available for public inspection from 8 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday at Ledges State Park Office. Please call the park office to coordinate a time to view at 515-432-1852. Ledges State Park will submit a summary of comments received and responses to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources with the final alternatives analysis subject to IDNR review and approval.
