Public Notice Class I Pursuant to s.985.07(1) Stats
Please take notice that Milestone Materials has applied for a Nonmetallic Mining Reclamation Permit for a proposed nonmetallic mine at the following location: NE ¼ of NE 1/4 of Section 11, T22N, R2E, Town of Hiles. Property owned by Dupee Farms LLC.
This Permit ensures the proper reclamation of the nonmetallic mine. The site will produce crushed stone for use in local construction projects for the next 50+ years. The proposed operational area of the site is approximately 25 acres and currently consists of an agricultural field. The extraction operation will include removal of topsoil, drilling and blasting, material hauled and crushed on site, stockpiling, loading and hauling of finished material. The site will be reclaimed to a manmade lake which will be used for passive recreation. The resulting lake will be approximately 19.5 acres in size with an 81-foot water depth. The banks of the reclamation lake will be sloped at 3:1 or shallower for a min. distance of 10 feet (but as much as 100 feet in places) horizontally lakeward from the resulting shoreline. The excavation will maintain a minimum 125 foot setback from adjoining property lines and public roads. Berms will be placed no closer than 50 feet to adjoining property lines and public roads. The mine will be accessed from the existing driveway off of County Road V – with a tracking pad installed at the entrance. All disturbed areas will be top soiled with 6" of material and vegetated. All slopes will be shaped to less than or equal to 3:1 with grades at the perimeter of the site returned to preexisting grades where possible to ensure internal drainage. The reclamation will follow the standards of the Wood County Nonmetallic Mining Reclamation Ordinance 802.
Anyone who cares to review the application and supporting material including the reclamation plan may come to the Wood County River Block building, 111 West Jackson Street, Wisconsin Rapids, between 7AM-2PM, at the Land and Water Conservation Department.
