Notice of Availability - Draft Environmental Assessment for the Proposed Construction and Operation of a Missile Maintenance Facility & Voelz Gate Access - Control Point Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
The U.S. Army Garrison Letterkenny Army Depot hereby gives Notice of the Availability (NOA) for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FNSI) for the proposed the construction of a Missile Maintenance Facility (MMF), which includes a maintenance building, inert storage building, and outdoor covered testing pad at Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD). The Voelz Gate Access Control Point (ACP) would be approximately 18 acres and includes inbound and outbound lanes, queuing space for 26 vehicles, 100 parking spaces, up to three individual buildings, and truck inspection canopies. The project is currently in its conceptual design phase.
The purpose of the Proposed Action is to provide an effective and efficient maintenance facility that is compliant with Ammunition and Explosives Safety Standards as well as an ACP that is compliant with Entry Control Facility Standard for ACPs.
The draft EA and draft FNSI have been prepared in accordance with the regulations for implementing the procedural provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), (Public Law 91-190, 42 USC 43214347 January 1, 1970), amendments, and the.), and DoD NEPA implementation policy and guidance.
