Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting of Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 will be held at Dartmouth Fire District No. 3, 140 Cross Road, North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The Prudential Committee has sponsored the following articles.
Article 1. To select a Moderator to preside at the meeting (Rate: $100.00 per meeting).
*Article 2. To determine if the district will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money to fund the compensation of the following positions: Prudential Committee, Fire Chief, District Clerk and Treasurer, Administrative Assistant-Finance, Town Assessors, Town Collector, and Moderator.

*Article 11. To determine if the district will vote to accept the provisions of M.G.L. c.32, §4(2)(b) and M.G.L. c.32 §4(2) (b½), which allows permanent, intermittent, or call firefighters to be credited with full-time service for the purpose of calculating retirement benefits in accordance with Chapter 32 of M.G.L.
Summary:
The commission, shall fix and determine how much service in any calendar year is equivalent to a year of service.Allows for part-time, provisional, temporary, temporary provisional, seasonal or intermittent employment or service of any employee to receive creditable prior service.For a reserve or permanent-intermittent police officer or a reserve, permanent-intermittent or call fire fighter retiring from a governmental unit accepting the provisions of this sentence, the board shall credit,Any fire district, which accepts the provisions of this paragraph, service as a permanent-intermittent or call firefighter shall be credited as full-time service as provided in paragraph (b), except that credit for such service shall not be conditioned upon the appointment of said permanent-intermittent or call firefighter as a permanent member of the fire department. This paragraph shall take effect in a district that maintains a separate contributory retirement system by vote of the district meeting, and in a district the eligible employees of which are members of a county retirement system by vote of the district meeting.
*Appropriations voted are to fund the financial year from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027
