Public Notice
Pursuant to the Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act, Bituminous Mine Subsidence and Land Conservation Act, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Rules and Regulations and Clean Streams Law, notice is hereby given that Pristine Steel Natural Resources, LLC, 301 Market Street, Kittanning, PA 16201, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to transfer the existing deep mine CMAP #56121301 from AK Coal Resources, Inc. The transfer does not contain any revisions.
The main surface facility of the previously permitted North Fork Mine is located in Jenner Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania as shown on parts of the U.S.G.S. 7.5" Somerset quadrangle map. The associated general underground permit area encompasses an area of 4,503.8 acres. The main surface site encompasses an area of 85.3 acres. A secondary surface site which was never affected encompasses 9.7 acres is located in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania and can also be found on the U.S.G.S. 7.5" Somerset quadrangle map.
A copy of the application is available for public inspection, and copying for a fee, by appointment at the Department of Environmental Protection, District Mining Operations, 25 Technology Drive, California Technology Park, Coal Center, PA 15423. Written comments, objections, or a request for an informal conference may be submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection, District Mining Operations, 25 Technology Drive, California Technology Park, Coal Center, PA 15423, no later than thirty (30) days following the final (4th) publication of this notice and must include the person's name, address, telephone number and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
