The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA), is considering a request for Federal assistance from Tallahassee State College to construct a Wakulla Workforce Development Facility in Crawfordville, Wakulla County, Florida. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), EDA is conducting an assessment of the potential of the proposed project to affect the environment and/or historic properties. Notice is hereby given that the project is proposed to be located in, or may affect, a floodplain and/or wetland as defined by Executive Order (EO) 11988 and/or EO 11990.
The project is: The Tallahassee State College (TSC) Wakulla Workforce Development Facility is a planned 22,000-square-foot hub designed to significantly expand workforce education and healthcare training opportunities in Wakulla County. The building will provide much-needed instructional space for TSC to launch additional healthcare programs, offer education-provider-specific training, and support the future growth of workforce and certificate pathways such as the LPN program launching in Fall, 2026. Beyond its academic mission, the facility will also serve a critical community function as the public hurricane shelter for Wakulla County, strengthening regional emergency preparedness while supporting long-term economic and educational development.

Comments received by 5:00 pm eastern on July 3, 2026 will be considered. A copy of the NEPA/NH PA decisional document will be available upon request at the EDA Atlanta Regional Office.
