Corkscrew Grove Villages
The Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) has received an application for a Department of the Army permit pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. 1344) from Alico Inc., for the construction of a master planned, mixed-use community, and associated infrastructure within northern Collier County and within the Collier County Rural Lands Stewardship Program. The applicant seeks authorization to impact 61.10+/- acres of wetlands. The impact acreage includes the excavation of 7.60+/- acres of wetlands and the discharge of fill material into 53.51+/- acres of wetlands. Wetland impacts will be limited primarily to lower quality wetlands, which are part of historical agricultural operations. The proposed work also includes impacts to 238.16+/- acres of man-made other surface waters comprised of agricultural ditches and reservoirs within the development footprint. Additionally, agricultural ditches will be incorporated into habitat restoration proposed along the project's eastern boundary which will serve as a dispersal corridor for panthers and other large wildlife. The project site is located at the intersection of State Road 82 and Corkscrew Road. The project site is located within Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, and 18; Township 46 South; Range 28 East; Collier County, Florida.
