
Public Notice: U.S. EPA's Authorization of Ohio's State Hazardous Waste Management Program
What is U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) doing through this notice?
In accordance with Title 40 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations, Part 271.21, EPA is giving notice of their decision, subject to public review and comment, that the State of Ohio's revised hazardous waste management program satisfies all requirements for authorization under EPA's Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), as amended by the Hazardous and Solid Waste Amendments of 1984 (HSWA).
What changes to the State of Ohio Authorization are included in this revision?
The State of Ohio program revision includes the following provisions: Organic Air Emission Standards, Hazardous Waste Management System Testing and Monitoring Activities, Surface Coating of Automobiles and Light-Duty Trucks, Final Standards for Hazardous Waste Combustors, Burden Reduction Initiative, and Revisions to the Definition of Solid Waste.
Why are the revisions necessary?
These State program revisions are necessary to maintain equivalency of State and Federal programs due to changes in U.S. EPA's regulations.
