Public Notice of Blasting Schedule For David H. Martin Excavating, Inc Martin Shale Pit No. 8 459 Commerce Street, Hamilton Township, Franklin County Notice is herein given that David H. Martin Excavating, Inc. of 4961 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202 will be conducting blasting operations within the permit boundary SMP #28130301 of Martin Shale Pit No. 8 located at 459 Commerce Street, Chambersburg, PA; the entrance to which is located on the north side of Commerce Str. approximately 0.17 mile southeast of the intersection with N. Franklin Street. Blasting operations will occur periodically during the next year as conditions and mining operations warrant. Blasting will be scheduled during the weekdays – Monday thru Friday between the hours of 08:00 AM and 05:00 PM. Access to the shale pit will be closed during blasting operations; all unauthorized personnel will be required to leave the mine area prior to detonation of any charges. Pending the proximity to the blast area, traffic on Commerce Street may be halted during detonation of charges. Warning of pending detonation of charges will be indicated by three (3) short blasts of an air horn. All clear will be signaled by one long sounding of an air horn. In the event of an emergency, unsafe site conditions, or poor weather conditions the blasting operations could be delayed beyond the scheduled hours. All blasting operations will be performed by licensed blasters in strict accordance with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Mining regulations. All detonations will be sub-surface. All shots will be monitored with seismograph equipment for vibration and air blast compliance at the nearest residence or occupied building. Please direct any concerns or questions to David H.
