Public Notice of Sidewalk Snow Removal Requirements:
Boone City property owners and residents are hereby notified of the requirements of Chapter 136, section 136.03 of the Boone Code of Ordinances.
Section 136.03 requires that snow and ice accumulations be removed from commercial property sidewalks within twenty-four (24) hours following a snow event. Residential property owners must remove snow and ice accumulations within forty-eight (48) hours following a snow event.
If a property owner does not remove snow and ice accumulations, the Director of Public Safety will cause the snow and ice accumulations to be removed, and assess the costs against the property owner for collection in the same manner as a property tax. The City will also impose a maximum civil penalty of fifty ($50) dollars for a first violation, two hundred dollars ($200) civil penalty for a second and subsequent violations, and a five ($5) dollar administrative fee, PLUS the actual costs of removing the snow and ice to bring the property into compliance. No notices or warning letters will be issued or sent.
