NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
TO: THE RESIDENTS AND OWNERS OF PROPERTY ABUTTING UNION LAKE BRANCH COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a hearing to consider the renewal of a Special Assessment District to provide for the improvement of Union Lake by managing aquatic weeds, algae growth and other nuisance conditions in the lake will be held at 7:15 p.m., May 11th, 2026, in the Sherwood Township Hall, 548 Main St., Sherwood, MI. The proposed Special Assessment District would include all properties directly abutting Union Lake. Cost estimates for the proposed project are on file at the office of the Sherwood Township Clerk, 548 N. Main St., Sherwood MI, and may be examined at that office from the date of this notice and may be examined at such public hearing.
If the Board should choose to proceed with the Special Assessment, there will be a second hearing to confirm the assessment roll. All property owners in the proposed assessment district and parties with an interest in the property to be assessed are hereby advised that they or their agent must protest the assessment at or before the public hearing to confirm the assessment roll in order to be eligible to appeal the special assessment to the State Tax Tribunal. Protests may be made in writing to the Sherwood Township Clerk or in person at the hearing.Please note that State Law requires that any appeal to the State Tax Tribunal must be filed within 30 days after the roll is confirmed.
