Skittles Marie was the biggest part of our lives for an incredible 14½ years. It still doesn’t feel like that was enough time, and we are still in shock that he is gone.
He was a fellow of many, many names. Most did not include his actual name, which had been given to him by a kid, who’s favorite candy was, you guessed it, Skittles!
He was about the size of a shower poof when he was adopted. A shower poof with a big, dopey smile.
Throughout his life, his energy was boundless. His most memorable adventures include being a Pontoon Captain on the Menominee River, camping in Namur, kayaking (hated it), and hiking the Estivant Pines.
His most notable accomplishments include learning how to: poop in his own yard after 13 years, play hide-and-seek, and walk on a leash without choking himself. Making friends everywhere he went was one of his greatest talents.
His MOST loved thing was to open presents (his AND everyone else’s!) At our family gatherings he would go from person to person ‘helping’ to open each gift every year at Christmas, for hours! His mom Amanda would brave the cold and crowds of Black Friday every year to pick up his favorite stuff-less toys from Menards, for Christmas every year.
His fear of the wind, leaves, blades of grass, rain, campfires, water, waves, sand, fireworks, walking canes, walkers, shadows, garbage bags, tote bags, other dogs, cats, and children (except his cousin Grant) was only overshadowed by his hatred of one thing. Squirrels. He would chase all the squirrels out of his yard so fast, he was just a blur.
Surviving him with enormous holes in their hearts are his moms Amanda & Kristen. Skittles loved his family and friends, so, SO much!
Many thanks to the stellar staff of the Animal House Pet Clinic. Dr. Jessica, Dr. Heidi, Amy, Morgan, and so many more, have taken THE BEST care of Skittles for his whole life. Emergency surgeries, routine check-ups, every little thing we were worried about, they were there for us all these years. We will never forget the kindness you showed our little guy.
We love you little buddy! Our lives will never be the same, and we miss you so very much!
You were our shadow, adventure buddy, cuddler, and the best little dog we ever met!
Love, Your Moms
