Sturgeon Bay Maintenance Dredging, Door County, Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Coastal Management Program (WCMP), State of Wisconsin, Department of Administration, has received a consistency determination and supporting information and data from the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Chicago District, regarding annual maintenance dredging in Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wisconsin. The purpose of the required dredging is to maintain a 22-foot depth (below low water datum) within the 300-foot-wide channel of the Sturgeon Bay federal navigation channel. Dredged material would then be placed in the upland Sturgeon Bay Utilities site, which is the same location used for past maintenance dredging. The work is scheduled to commence summer 2027.
The proposed activity is subject to review for consistency under the enforceable policies of the WCMP. More information on the WCMP and the state's enforceable policies may be found at https://coastal.wisconsin.gov. For additional information on the proposed project, contact WCMP staff at federalconsistency@wisconsin.gov.
