THE KANSAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD INVITES THE PUBLIC TO LEARN ABOUT AND PROVIDE INPUT ON ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE ACTION ACTIVITIES AT SALINA ARMY AVIATION SUPPORT FACILITY #2, KANSAS
2916 ARNOLD AVE, SALINA, KANSAS, 67401
The Kansas Army National Guard is conducting an environmental investigation for per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at the Salina Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) #2 in Salina, Kansas. An Administrative Record File has been established to include documents and information as they are generated during Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study phases. The Administrative Record is a collection of documents maintained by the Army National Guard (ARNG) that form the basis for the selection of a particular response action. To ensure information about the PFAS work at Salina AASF #2 is available to interested citizens, the ARNG will maintain these records at the following locations:
National Guard Bureau, 111 S George Mason Drive, Arlington, Virginia 22204.
Salina Public Library, 301 W Elm Street, Salina, Kansas 67401, (785) 825-4624.
The ARNG is also soliciting public interest in establishing a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) for PFAS activities throughout the restoration process at Salina AASF #2.
What is a RAB?
A RAB is a community group which meets to discuss and receive information on environmental restoration (cleanup of contamination) projects at a military facility.
What does a RAB do?
A RAB enables local community members interested in environmental cleanup to receive and exchange information with the facility and regulatory agencies managing environmental cleanup projects at Salina AASF #2. At meetings, RAB members and the public can receive updates and ask questions on the status of the environmental cleanup program at Salina AASF #2.
Though the RAB is not a decision-making group, the RAB gives local community members the opportunity to have their voices heard and to provide valuable community insight to the facility and regulatory agencies.
