NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON APPLICATION FOR
AREA VARIANCES FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT
57 Sugar Loaf Mountain Road
WHEREAS LEGAL NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Chester Zoning Board of Appeals will conduct a public hearing on the application for relief from Town of Chester Zoning Law § 98-14, "Fences and walls," which prohibits fences greater than four (4) feet in height in any front yard and six (6) feet in height in any side or rear yard. The property is owned by Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc., and is located at 57 Sugar Loaf Mountain Road in the Agricultural-Residential 3 ("AR-3") zoning district. The property is identified on the tax map as Section 15, Block 1, Lot 3.21. The applicant is requesting variances to permit the existing six-foot tall perimeter security fence surrounding the O & R substation to be replaced with an eleven-foot tall fence.
A copy of the application is available for inspection at the Town of Chester building department located at 1786 Kings Highway, Chester, New York 10918.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Appeals declares that it will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid application at the Town of Chester Town Hall, 1786 Kings Highway, Chester, New York 10918, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 7:00 P.M., at which time all persons interested therein shall be heard. The Board will also accept written comments prior to the date of the public hearing.
