NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS AND OTHERS ENTITLED TO SERVICE
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that the undersigned, Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSEG) c/o Katherine L. Hering, P.E., P.P., C.M.E., PSE&G Permitting Specialist ("Applicant") has made application to the Township of Burlington Zoning Board of Adjustment for conditional use approval pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-67, which also requires use variance relief pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-70d(3), preliminary and final site plan approval pursuant to the authority of N.J.S.A. 40:55D-46 and N.J.S.A. 40:55D-50 along with ancillary variance relief pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-70(c) and design waivers in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:55D-51 in conjunction with installing the following improvements at its Burlington Southern Gas District Headquarters Facility located on Lot 5.05 in Block 121.01 as shown on the Tax Map of the Township of Burlington said property being situate in the I-1 (Light Industrial) District where public utilities are specifically permitted conditional uses.
The specific improvements contemplated are to install electric vehicle chargers (28 under Phase I and 86 in future Phases). In conjunction with these Applicant will be also installing electrical switchboards, transformers, a 1.5 MW natural gas backup generator with a 14 foot high noise attenuation enclosure, 10 foot high isolation wall adjacent to the generator and approximately 1,100 feet of 7 foot high chain link fence and various other improvements on the site. In conjunction with the application, variance pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:55D-70(c) shall be sought the noise attenuating enclosure which is part of the natural gas generator and will be 14 feet whereas 12 feet is permitted.
The Applicant may also apply for such variance relief, exceptions, waivers, permits, approvals or licenses that are deemed necessary or appropriate by the Applicant or the Board, and which may arise during the course of the hearing process.
This application is now on the calendar for the Zoning Board of Adjustment of the Township of Burlington. The public hearing has been set for May 20, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Burlington Township Municipal Complex, 851 Old York Road, Burlington, New Jersey. When this case is called you may either appear in person or by an attorney for the purpose of being heard with respect to this application. The application, all supporting documents and all exhibits to be considered by the Zoning Board are available in electronic format on the Burlington Township website, on the home page, click on the date of the meeting on the section of the page identifying "Upcoming Meetings" and a new window will open identifying each application and all documents they have provided.
