LEGAL NOTICE
TAKE NOTICE THAT Matthew and Jessica Shaw have appealed to the Board of Adjustment of the Township of Berkeley Heights for a variance from the provisions of Article 6.1, Section 6.1.1B, as well as Article 3.1, Section 3.1.8, of the Zoning Ordinance so as to permit a construction project comprised of a second-story addition over the first story, expansion of the garage to a two-car garage, removal of a patio, and construction of a covered front porch and a raised deck in the rear. Variances are needed for insufficient front-yard setback to the second story addition and porch; exceeding the 15% maximum permitted building coverage and 25% maximum permitted total lot coverage; insufficient rear-yard setback to the raised deck; and exceeding the maximum permitted driveway width of 18 feet.
This project pertains to the premises located at 273 Chaucer Drive and also known as Block 1002, Lot 6, on the Berkeley Heights Tax Map, located within Zone R15, which is within 200 feet of property owned by you.
The applicant requests any and all such other variances, design waivers, site plan exceptions and/or other relief from the Board of Adjustment as may be deemed necessary or required at the time of the hearing of this matter.
This appeal is now on the Secretary's calendar, and a public hearing has been ordered for Thursday evening, April 23, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. prevailing time, in the public meeting room of the Municipal Building (Room 155, the "Berkeley Room"), 29 Park Avenue, Berkeley Heights, NJ at which time you may appear either in person or by attorney and present any objection which you may have to the granting of this appeal.
